This type of ceremony is designed to bring some formality and commitment to families who have come together, and do not necessarily want to get married. Many blended families have come together after leaving other family members and sometimes some tough times. This ceremony is a beautiful way for those couples and their children to unite. This ceremony can include symbolic elements like sharing objects of love, sand/ earth pouring and lighting candles. Children love to feel included in all areas of life, and in this ceremony we can help them to feel important, loved and united with their new family unit.
Getting to know your story is the first step in creating this ceremony. I can meet with you in person or we can chat via Skype or Zoom or FB Messenger. This will give me the basis on which to design your ceremony. I completely understand the fragility and sometimes sensitive nature of some of these conversations and will always maintain my dignity and humility when discussing things, especially when the kids are around. I can be super discreet when needed!
I will design a completely unique ceremony that can include your participation as little or as much as you like. From experience kids (and adults too!) feel much more included and better memories are made, when we include some sort of symbolic gesture or activity. I can guide you on what would suit your situation best. I will facilitate and lead a ceremony for your families that will leave you connected, whole and feeling secure in your future together - without the legal paperwork of getting married!
